Enhance Hamilton County Foundation opens fund for Stanhope Depot and Museum
The Enhance Hamilton County Foundation has announced that they have recently opened a new fund that will support the Stanhope Depot and Museum. The monies donated to this fund will initially go to move the 140-year-old train depot, located on a farm north of Stanhope, back to town and then donations will be used for maintenance and sustainability of the depot.
Charitable donations can be made by going to the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation’s website under “Our Funds” or checks can be made out to Stanhope Depot and Museum Fund and mailed to the Foundation office at 501 Bank Street, Webster City, IA 50595. All donations are tax deductible.
The historic depot has been cared for the last 40 years by the Carlson family who live north of Stanhope. The depot is in good condition and a new roof was put on the structure several years ago by the Carlson family.
The plan is to move the depot next summer.
Those interested in more information on moving the depot can contact Rick Young by calling 515-460-0952.
