The Enhance Hamilton County Foundation (EHCF) is proud to announce the establishment of a dedicated fund aimed at supporting the Webster City Meals on Wheels Program (MOW). Operating independently from local, state, or federal tax-funded agencies, Webster City Meals on Wheels plays a crucial role in the community by providing nutritious meals, companionship, and safety checks to senior residents.

Founded as a response to the challenges of inadequate nutrition, isolation, and safety for seniors, Meals on Wheels delivers far more than just meals. Volunteer drivers from the community ensure that seniors not only receive a warm meal but also a friendly visit and a safety check. This service allows many seniors to maintain their independence and remain in their own homes, which is both cost-effective and enriching for the recipients.

Currently, meals are prepared at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City, and volunteer drivers cover three delivery routes in Webster City five days a week, including holidays. The entire program operates solely on voluntary contributions from individuals, businesses, and various community organizations.

“We are delighted to partner with Webster City Meals on Wheels to ensure that our seniors receive the support they need to live independently,” said Darcy Swon, Director of the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation. “Donations to this fund will directly impact the lives of seniors in our community, providing the Webster City Meals on Wheels program with the financial support they need to continue with meal delivery, companionship, and peace of mind.”

Contributions to support Webster City Meals on Wheels can be made by sending or dropping off donations at the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation located at 501 Bank Street, Webster City, IA 50595. Donations are tax deductible. Online donations are also accepted through the Des Moines Foundation website at https://www.desmoinesfoundation.org/WCMealsonWheels
