Foundation’s Food Pantry Challenge results in over $24,000 raised

The Enhance Hamilton County Foundation has announced that their recent Food Pantry Challenge set a new record for monies raised totaling over $24,750 benefitting Hamilton County area food pantries. This year’s food pantry challenge was a first as it was held over multiple months (June – October) and was the result of an anonymous donor kickstarting the challenge with a $10,000 charitable donation. The EHCF Board donated $2,000 to make the community challenge total amount of $12,000.

“We are so appreciative of the anonymous donor for stepping forward and their generosity. In addition, we are overwhelmed by the community response by charitable donors and organizations that chose to participate in the challenge,” said Darcy Swon, Enhance Hamilton County Foundation Development Director. “Monies raised will assist the food pantries in Hamilton County to continue the work they do serving those facing food insecurities especially during this time.”

Donations were sent directly to the food pantries and the final totals are as follows: The Lord’s Cupboard Bethesda Lutheran Church (Jewell) $4,939.11; Stratford Food Pantry (Stratford) $3,639.25; Trinity Lutheran Church (Webster City) $4,864.13; Upper Des Moines Opportunity (Webster City) $3,364.13; Asbury Methodist Church/All Cultures Equal $3,889.21; and St Paul Lutheran Church (Webster City) $4,054.17.

Donations to the food pantries were determined by the charitable donor’s request.

The Enhance Hamilton County Foundation was established in 2005 to improve the quality of life throughout Hamilton County by promoting charitable giving and connecting donors with causes they care about. For more information about the Foundation, visit their website at enhancehamiltoncounty.org or contact Swon at 515.835.0437 or dswon@enhancehamiltoncounty.org.
